Explain what happens to the speed of a series motor as the load decreases
Answer Posted / prabhu
The speed of the dc series motor rises when the load of the motor decreases due to decrease in field current or armature current (field current = armature current in series motor). decrease in field current or armature current causes decrease in field flux so speed increases, because field current is iversely proportional to field flux.
