If Concentrated HCl... Already 37%... So, How to prepare 10%
HCl from Conc. HCl (37%)?
Answer Posted / kartik patel
On bottle of conce. Hcl its has been written 35%.
Another thing, mol.Wt. Of hcl is 36.46 and density is 1.18 g/ml
So now, 35gm for 100g than 36.46 for 100? I.E. 104.17 g
And
1.18g(density) for 1 ml. Than 104.17 ? I.E. 88 ml
That's why usp has recommended as 88x of hcl.Where x is desired molarity. Ex. For 2m hcl we use 85*2 ml of conc. Hcl to 1000 ml of water.
(and ip,ep,bp suggested 85x for making desired molarity)
And in case of 10% hcl, simply take 10 ml of conc.Hcl and dilute to 100ml of water.
