WILL ANY COLLEAGUE TELL ME THAT WATER RATIO IS FIXED FOR ANY
TYPE OF CONCRETE? OR HOW CAN WE DETERMINE THE RATIO OF WATER
IN A CONCRETE MIX.
Answer Posted / santosh singh
According to British Standard Specifications
water requirement of concrete = 28% by weight of cement + 4% by total weight of aggregate
M25 M20 M15
proportion 1:1:2 1:11/2:3 1:2:4
water cement ratio 0.43 0.51 0.58
(by weight)
quantity of water is calculated as
for M20
wt of water/wt of cement(50kg) = 0.51
Wt of water per bag of cement = 0.51 x 50 = 25.5 liters
similarly for M25
wt of water per bag of cement = 0.43 x 50 = 21.5 liters
wt of water per bag of cement = 0.58 x 50 = 29 litres
