In colomn reinforcement when dia of bar is going to change,
than what should be the lap length of bars weather it should
be of heigher dia bar lap length or it should the accordance
with new dia bar. the grade of concrete is same.

Lap lenth varies for grade of concrete... High grades require smaller lap length... Generally in columns as u go up... Diameter of bar reduces... Load is transferred from above to below... So lap length is as per smaller bar which is transferring load... For m30 grade we r taking it as 40 d only... And obviously it will be same grade at lap because laps comes in area between the floors... Grade cannot vary at lap splice
