hello.my friends.i am an electronics & instrumentation engineer.i want to know Q1.why lugs use in instrumentation cable termination? Q2.if limit switch not working what to do?

Lugs are large terminals, like those used on automotive
batteries. Ferrules are crimped onto stranded wire for
making connections to instrumentation terminal blocks.

Stranded wire is used for instrumentation because it has
superior flexibility, better flex life and higher resistance
to vibration. But there are assertions that stranded wire
loses strength and resiliency when the insulation is
stripped off for connections. The argument is that ferrules
crimped over the bared wire maintain the flexibility,
resiliency, and reduce corrosion.

It is unarguable that ferrules reduce the problem of stray
strands that do not insert properly with the associated risk
of a short to another terminal connection.

I've read reports of spring clamp connections (as opposed to
screw clamp) which have problems with stranded wire without
ferrules. Not all the strands contact the terminal and
separated stray wires can break.

When crimped properly, there is a gas-tight seal between the
ferrule and the wire strands, reducing prospect of corrosion.

Wire ferrules are widely used for European style terminal
blocks (as opposed to washer/screw terminal style) and in
fact, ferrules are required for CE certification.
