generally we use to calculate steel by by taking its diameter at ends we use higher diameter of steel and then taking its length and numbers and weight can be measured by using d^2/162
suppose 8 is the diameter then weight is 64/162 is 0.39 and length is 10M and number is 2 so 20m*o.39 is 7800mm^3..
