let lamp cost = l
therefore rug cost = (l+25%l)=(l+.25l)=1.25l
a/c to ques.
l+1.25l=$5.25
2.25l=$5.25
l=$2.3333 (cost of lamp)
cost of rug = 1.25l=1.25*2.3333= $2.9125
