What is meant by cold float of compressor shaft.
Answer Posted / aftab ahmed mazari
Basically its machinery related question.
Cold float of shaft of any compressor/turbine means free movement of shaft without running and without any oil / process temperature.
Suppose at running bearing/shaft oil temperature is 60C. Its float of shaft may be different. Let compressor stop and allow to cold at ambient temperature. Its float movement will be different.
This is called cold float of compressor shaft.
