as the question states it has 7 connected pieces so the measurement could be seen clearly
1. Break it in to two pieces.
the gold piece will be in to 4:3
2. Place the bar one over the other and break in again
the gold piece will be in 2:2:2:1
3. Now Place the gold bar one over the other and break only with two pieces joined leaving the piece with single
the gold pieces are divided in to 7 pieces
