what r the main parts of central chiller plant in Air
conditioner ? explain the function of each?
Answer Posted / sharath chandra
In an A/C chiller plant (central plant) there are two types
of chillers
1. Air cooled
2. Water cooled
Main Parts of the A/c chiller connected in to building
1. Primary Pumps
2. Secondary pumps
3. Variable speed drive
4. Variable frequency drive
5. AHU (AIR Handling Units)
6. CMU (Ceiling Mounted Units )
7. Fresh air Units
8. Differential Pressure Switch (DP)
9. Inlet and outlet water Pipes
10. Pressure Gauges
11. Air Vents
Main parts in a chiller are
1. Evaporator
2. Condenser
3. Compressor
4. Expansion device (throttling valve)
The work of evaporator is observing the temp of surrounding
water in shell. After this procedure liquid state
refrigerant will convert in gas state. And this gas state
(Low pressure low temperature) refrigerant will goes to the
compressor in compressor increase the temp and pressure of
refrigerant gas and gas will changed in High pressure High
Temperature .this High pressure High Temperature gas will
goes to the condenser in the condenser this High pressure
High Temperature gas condense by ordinary air or water after
the condescension, the gas convert in to High pressure High
Temperature liquid state. And an expansion valve reduce the
pressure and temp of this High pressure High Temperature
liquid will convert into Low pressure low temperature
liquid. Finally this Low pressure low temperature liquid
will goes to an evaporator.
