What is the formula that shows relationship between voltage and speed in an induction motor
Answer Posted / kj
There is not relationship between the voltage and speed of
an induction motor. They are designed to operate at a
specified voltage range.
Speed is related to the frequency of the power supply and
also the number of poles in the motor.
At 50 Hz the speed will be approximately as below ; -
2 pole - 2930 rpm
4 pole - 1440 rpm
6 pole - 950 rpm
A motor on a 60Hz supply would run 20% faster.
