CT IS DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY SO THAT IT ACT AS SET UP TRANSFORMER BUT UNLIKE COMMON TRANSFORMER its secondary current depend upon primary current actauly secondary current balances primary flux if secondary opens. means no secondary current no opposition to primary flux so results in high voltage on secondary side. Which may led core saturation insulation failure

Practical condition in 400KV Sub station:- Breaker(open) , isolator(open), Earthing (close) at both end e.g A & B. Now Open A Stn Earthing than Open B stn Earthing (Which have a 50MVA reactor) , AND suddenly show R,Y,B phase 704KV,573KV,118KV respectively. Que is without closing of breaker how it is possible.???? when ac current flows thru d coil of a contactr,it energizes,magnetic field attracts d contact of the coil...nw wont dt ac current in d contct induce current back on to d coil thru mutual inductance leading to high currnt in d coil
