what is the difference between earth and neutral?

neutral is for completion of ckt .
but earthing is for protection .
both in case of balanced supply ,but problem occur if there is noise of some unbalance at that time neutral& earth take overthe prob by making them to eath ,that is why internally genetated or 2 neutral are made earth at transformer.
