Difference between induction motor and synchronous motor?
i Think Synchronous motors operate at synchronous speed
(RPM=120f/p) while induction motors operate at less than
synchronous speed (RPM=120f/p – slip). Slip is nearly zero
at zero load torque and increases as load torque increases
am a right pls guide & send Other Comments

THERE R MANY DIFFERENCE IN SYNCHRONOUS AND INDUCTION M/C
1)IND M/C IS SELF STARTING E.G.3 PH INDUTION MOTOR
BUT SYNCHRONOUS M/C NOT.
2)SYNCHRONOUS M/C RUNS ON SYNCHRONOUS SPEED WHILE IND. M/C LESS THAN SYN SPEED.
3)SYNCHRONOUS M/C CAN WORK ON LEADING AND LAGGING BOTH BUT INDUTION M/C ALWASY RUNS ON LAGGING PF.
4)EFFICINCY AND COST BOTH OF SYNCHRONOUS M/C IS MORE THAN INDUCTION M/C OF SAME RATING.
5)INDUCTION M/C IS SINGLY EXCITED BUT SYCHRONOUS M/C (ONLY MOTOR NOT GENERATOR) IS DOUBLY EXCITED .

I have one ct of ratio 3000-2000/1 Amp its knee point voltage mentioned on name plate is 500-333/30mA-50mA at Vk/2. in secondary box there is three terminal named 1S1, 1S2, 1S3 then on which terminal obtained the knee point voltage ie 1S1-1S2 OR 1S1-1S3 & also specify the knee point voltage for the ratio 3000 from name plate.
