Hi,
I'd like to explain the difference with an example.
Let us have a page in our report which has a block (give a
name to the block in the properties panel) which holds a
list and a chart. Suppose if want to show the same set
(list and chart) in few other pages in the same report or a
different report, we can add the block using the layout
component reference. It just groups two or more containers
as a single component.
Conditional block is used to display the result with
desired objects, which can be conditionally rendered. Let
us have a prompt page which has a value prompt. Associate a
static choice as list, chart and crosstab. Suppose if we
choose list, it should display the result in the list
format hiding the chart and crosstab. Similarly, if we
choose crosstab or chart, it should show the result
appropriately. The same cannot be done in blocks and the
objects put in conditional block cannot be reused in any
other page of the same report or in some other report.
