generally diesel engine, operation based on compression ignition(C.I)system.and petrol engine on spark.ignition the self ignition temperature of petrol is higher than diesel.in diesel engine at the end of compression stroke, the temp. is sufficiet 4 auto ignition of air fuel mixture so there is no need of sparking to ignite air fuel mixture.hence no need of sparg plug.
