VSS is a configuration management tool.
Now first we speak of checkout .Its basically used to take
doccument or source from the repository(SVN) into your
workspace(that can be JDK 1.6 or 1.5)and use it.
Checkin is used to send back the source which you have
updated from your workspace to SVN
