Our Alternator nameplate specifies a power factor of 0.8.
When the Alternator is on light load, the bus bar voltage
rises to 11240 volts, whereas the standard value is 10500 volts.
Is it ok to increase the power factor to 0.85 or 0.9. I am
afraid because the power factor on the name plate is only 0.8 ?

.8 power factor means it is designed to run on that minimum
power factor but you can run it up to .99
