Theory:: Normally water and alcohol are have the same boiling point.If we make a mixture of water and alcohol they cannot be seperated by the normal distillation process .SO "AZEOTROPIC EXTRACTIVE DISTILLATION " process used for seperating alcohol and water.
EX: mixture of water and ethanol can be seperated by using benzene as azeotrope. pure ethanol obtained by this process
