Jainism stressed on extreme renunciation, and common people
found it very difficult to follow such severe penance.
Other causes for the decline of the religion was because of
the revivalism of Brahmanism, as well as the division of
Jainism into two sects, namely, Digambaras(sky clad) and
Svetambaras(white clad).
