What are the effects of armature reaction on a DC machine
and discuss the various methods to reduce the effect.
Answer Posted / lakshmi
the effects of armature reaction are (i) de-magnetising
effect ( which means weakens the main flux) and (ii)cross
magnetising effect (which provides distortion to the main
magnetic field).
to reduce the effect of de-magnetising we provide extra
ampere turns to the armature which is given by the value
ATd = @m*ZI/360
and to reduce the cross magnetising effect we use inter
poles and compensating winding
