Synchrounous motor is three phase motor, but its not self
starting .why?
Answer Posted / santosh kumar sharma
synchronous motors are not self-starting motors. This property is due to the inertia of the rotor. When the power supply is switched on, the armature winding and field windings are excited. Instantaneously, the armature winding creates a rotating magnetic field, which revolves at the designated motor speed. The rotor, due to inertia, will not follow the revolving magnetic field, but instead acts as a synchronous generator (alternator) and creates a very large counter-current that opposes the rotation

how to find 5 kilo meter long under ground 33 kv cable fault location if IR VALUE shows 0.05 M ohm @5000 volt.and cable fault locator shows some time fault distance 3 kilo meter ,3.7 kilo meter and some time 1 kilo meter? now how to find the fault location that where is leakage. note--it is tested with 5000 kv megger and insulation resistance is 0.05 M ohm. and some time 0.03 M ohm comes.

Please clarify, 1. Is it required to lay two runs of GI wire along with Armoured LT cable if it is laid between one big mains (63Amps TPN SDF) to small main (32A TPN SDF) with proper glanding termination? 2. If the armoured cable with proper glanding is laid from DB to CNC machine, is it required to run two runs of body earthing to the Machine from DB? 3.If the armoured cable with proper glanding is laid from Substation to Hangar, distance is approx. 100 mtrs, is it required to do earthing at shop area though the primary termination at substation is earthed through gland.
