i want to know about for what reason we are using star
delta starter? how it works? what are the advantages?
Answer Posted / amit agrawal
star delta starter are used for controlling starting current. as we know, when we start any motor/pump then motor takes 6 times if rated current as there is no back emf ins tarting(speed zero).
If we apply star circuit then the voltage will be one third of delta circuit, in the same way current will be reduced.
This is the answer.
One more thing that all the HT(6.6KV) motors also be in star to control the starting current and to save the cost of insulation for both motor and connected cable.
