in breather of transformer how sillicon gel absorb the
moisture?wat happen when the moisture in that oil?
Answer Posted / jyothis prasad t
Due to temperature rise and fall the oil in t/f expands and
contracts. For this it absorbs & expels air .So in this
process silica gel absorbs the moisture (its the property of
silica gel to absorb moisture.at initial it has a blue
colour & after absorption it turn into cream). Moisture in
oil cause low insulation value and may trip the t/f with
bucholze relay indication.
