SSD - Saturated surface dry defined as the condition of an
aggregate in which the surfaces of the particles are
saturated
1)have no water on their surface, which will be added to
the free water content.
2)will not absorb any free water in the time between the
mixing and the setting of the concrete.
It is therefore the condition of the aggregate, which
ensures that the aggregate will not affect the free water
content.
