i have 60Hz motor, can i run it at 50Hz power supply ???
Answer Posted / biswajitmishra024
If the voltage is correct for the motor, you should be able
to run a 50Hz motor on a 60Hz supply. The motor will spin
faster, and will have somewhat less power, so you can't load
it as heavily as you could at 50Hz.
You don't really have any choice about whether to use
3-phase or single phase. If it's a 3-phase motor, you need
3-phase power; if it's a single-phase motor, you need
single-phase power.
If you're buying a motor and have 3-phase power available,
you should get a 3-phase motor (but then, you should get one
for the right frequency!
