Bug: It occurs during coding and is nothing but a mistake
done by the programmer.
Defect: It occurs during execution and is a result of the
mistake made by the programmer.
Thus a bug is a mistake in the code and a defect is a
result of the bug.

hi all I have an overall experience of 12 years working in an EDP setup(worked in a manufacturing setup in a German MNC). On my request, I was relieved from my duties in Sep 06 for maternity reasons.
