When Centrifugal compressor is a non positive displacement
compressor how it goes under surge due high discharge
pressure when the discharge valve partially or fully
clossed. please explain me clearly
Answer Posted / keshav verma
First We need to understand "what is Surge" ...Surge refers
to the reverse flow of fluid which a pump or compressor is
pumping. This happens when the pressure at discharge point
is suddenly becomes too high...which may be due to closing
or partially closing of valves...by doing so static head
inceares so much that the pressure at discharge point is
more than the thrust given by the centrifugal impeller, so
due pressure difftial at discharge and suction fluid flows
in reverse direction....since centrifugal compressors are
non positive displacement(NPD) compressors..which means no
displacing member is there which can prevent the reverse
flow (as in reciprocating), in NPD comp suction and
discharge are not physically separated. So, reverse flow
happened which is called Surging. Once the surging occurs,
the excess pressure at dis point is released and system
tries to stable again flow start in forward direction but
due restriction of closed valves the same thing happen
again..surging...this repeatition is called hunting.

Assume a DC motor with the following parameters : Motor torque control = 0.0848 Nm/amperes Back EMF control = 0.0848 Volts/(rad/s) Armature resistance = 0.75 Moment of inertia = 0.00001696 kg/m2 With zero frictional load and taking a feed forward gain of 2, determine the motor response for a unit step function. please forwaded the answer to the below mail id thanks in advance Regrads, peer_kaba@yahoo.co.in

In Rankine Cycle we use the concept of Tm(mean temperature of heat addition). In actual cycle the efficiency comes as n=1-T2/T1 Taking Tm into consideration it comes as n=1-T2/Tm as T1>Tm so the efficiency for both case will not same for a same cycle. Can anybody explain how it is possible? Advance appreciation for your effort. Thanks
