Posting period is the period for which the documents are posted. SAP allows total 16 posting period, 12 normal Posting period and 4 special posting period for year end closure activities. Posting period is identified on the basis of posting date.
Fiscal year is the 12 month period for which company produces financial statements. It's nothing but financial year.
Fiscal year variant is used to define fiscal year.
