what is the difference between impulse and reaction turbines ?
Answer Posted / pushkal
In impulse turbine there is no pressure drop in moving
blades, i.e. they are having constant cross section. Only
stationary balde or nozzle is used for pressure drop, i.e.
velocity increase.
In reaction turbine there is a pressure drop in moving and
stationary both blades, i.e. both blades act as a nozzle
for next pcoming blade, i.e. pressure drop & velocity
increase.
