WHY THE FREQUENCY IS 50 HZ IN INDIA.CAN WE USE SOME OTHER
FREQUENCY.IF SO WHAT IS THE RANGE AND WHAT WILL BE THE
EFFECT IN PRESENT POWER SYSTEM IF WE CHANGE THE FREQUENCY
AS YOU SUGGEST ?
Answer Posted / kiranmayee
It is the standard frequency for India whereas for other
countries it is(110v,60hz).The appliances in India work
only for 50hz frequency.v can change d frequency as in
CYCLOCONVERTERS as the voltage changes frequency also
changes but the output frequency(variable) is lower than
input frequency(fixed). The appliances brought from USA/sum
oder country with(60hz) cant be used in India. Our
requirment is 2 increase the frequency rather dan
decreasing.

how does the terminal voltage of transmission lines increase when a capacitor is connected???? This happens not only in transmission lines but also in all circuits. How??? When a capacitor is connected in a transmission line, capacitor also takes energy from the same supply. But how is it able to increase the terminal voltage??? Practically What sequence of events happen during increase in voltage???

A 100 kVA , 400 v/250 kv testing transformer has 8% leakage reactance and resistance on 100 KVA base . A cable has to be tested at 500 kv using the above transformer as a resonant transformer at 50 hz . if the charging current of the cable at 500 kv is 0.4 A find the series inductance required . Assume 2% resistance for the inductor to be used and the connecting leads . Neglect dielectric loss of hte cable . what will be the input voltage to the transformer ?
how we can decide that what value of ht line will come to any commercial building? (ans except According to the building load)
