20 kg of fresh grapes, so 18kg will be water (i.e 90% of 20kg)
Also given 20% of weight of dried grapes is water
Let ‘x’ be the weight of dried grapes
Then 20% of x = water
Therefore
(total water in 20 kg) – (water in dried grapes) = water
lost due to drying
18 – 0.2x = water lost due to drying
water lost due to drying = (wt of fresh grapes) – (wt of
dried grapes)
18 – 0.2x = 20 – x
0.8x = 2
X = 2.5 kg
