The total bending effect on any section is called the
bending moment.
It is equal to the algebraic sum of all the momentsto the
right of the section or to the left of the section which
amounts to be the same thing denoted by 'M'
Every bending moment can be expressed as a force times a
distance. The units are N-m, Tonne-metre, kg-m.
