let us assume 'T' as total
so people above 50 years =T-18
people below 50 years= T-15
so no of ppl who are 50 years of age=18-15=3
henc we can solve as..(T-18)+3+(T-15)=T
=> 2T-33+3=T
=> T-30=0
=> T=30
a)30 is the right choice
