For and e.g. Qty of earth work = 9,60,000 cum.
% OMC = 12.5
After soil test % OMC comes as per laboratory test = 8 to
9% ( say 8.9 %).
So OMC now =12.5 -8.9 = 3.6 % ( usually Depending on the
soil type, an in-situ moisture content deviating 2% to 4%
from the optimum moisture content as determined from the
Proctor test, may create impossible conditions to achieve
the required compaction).i.e 3.6 % is ok.
now Qty = 9,60,000 x 3.6/100 = 34560 cum or 34560000 lit
water required.
Now add evaporation losses @ 10%.
so now the exact vol of water required for compaction of
earth work is 3,80,16,000 lit.
