A relay is an electrically operated switch. Many relays use
an electromagnet to operate a switching mechanism
mechanically.
commonly there are 4 legged (pins) for relay. You can check
the mechanical switch by Ohm meter (multi meter) similar
like Elec switch testing. ON - OFF low and high resistance
it should show then it should OK or else its defective.
the other part of relay is Elec winding part can be tested
by continuity check
