practically What is power factor

Answer Posted / pradhyumn

Power factor is a measure of degree to which a given load
matches that of a pure resistance.

Power factor is a ratio of actual power(VIcosΦ) to apparent
power(VI), so it is given by cosΦ.

PF=1 (for resistive load).
PF=0 (for both inductive and capacitive load).

PF leads with capacitive load and lags with inductive load.
