The peak value of current(including d.c component)during first cycle of current wave after the closure of circuit breaker known as making capacity.
Breaking capacity:It is the rms current that a circuit breaker is capable to break at given recoveryvoltage and under specified conditions.

Why single phase induction motors are not self starting ?
