Machines X & Machine Y produces 8000 articles in 4 and 8 hrs
respectively. If they work alternately for one hr each, X
starting first, in what time 10000 articles can be produced?

Answer is 6.5 Hours
x machine = 2000 articles per hour
y machine = 1000 articles per hour
starting with x machine both machines work for one hour
alternately
10000 articles =
2000(X)+1000(Y)+2000(X)+1000(Y)+2000(X)+1000(Y)+1000(X)
time is 1 (X) + 1 (Y) + 1(X) + 1(Y) + 1(X) + 1 (Y) + 0.5(X)
Answer is 6.5 Hours
