what is the factor of safety for cement and steel with
reference to IS 456-2000. and min reinforcement should be
provided for column and slab with reference to IS 456-2000.
Answer Posted / mustafa mohammed layeak
Partial safety factor for concrete is 1.5 and for steel is
1.15 in limit state design. Minimun reinforcement for
column = 0.87% of the cross sectional column area.
Mininimum reinforcement in slab = 0.12% of c/s area (when
deformed bars are used) and if mild steel (Plain rounded
bars)is used then = 0.15% of c/s area of slab.
