Workflow is nothing but communications.
Any request raised by an employee has to be forwarded to his/ her manager and the manager's response (accept/ reject) needs to be reach the employee. This is the place where workflow is important.
Workflow also helps in restricting communication between relevant employees only, thru authorizations.
