It cost a college Rs.0.70 a copy to produce a Programme for
the homecoming football game. If Rs.15,000/- was received
for advertisements in the programme, how many copies at
Rs.0.50 a copy must be sold to make a profit of Rs.8000/- ?
Answer Posted / neeraj
profit = s.p - c.p
let x be the no. of copies sold.
s.p = .50x
c.p = (.70x - 15000)
each copies is cost to them is for rs. 0.70x
but 15,000 has been subtracted because they have received it
as an advertisement money (consider it as donation)
hence
profit = 8000
8000 = .50x - (.70x - 15000)
x = 35000
