why single phase induction motors are not self staring ?
how can we start the 1-phase Induction motor ?
Answer Posted / ajith
the 1ph supply applied to stator wdng cant produce a
rotating magnetic field as in the case of a 3ph induction
motor..
if a 1ph is applied to the induction motor the resulting
magnetic field is only altrnating (not rotating)..
In order to make the 1ph induction motor self starting...,
2 windings are used ..startin windin n runnin wdng..called
split phase motor.. or by connectin a capacitor in series
with the start wdng.. for obtainin necessary phase
diplacement...
