Why slip-ring and brushes are not required in squirrel cage
induction motor?
Answer Posted / raul
there are basically two purposes for slip rings n brushes
in slip ring rotor......firstly they r used to short ckt
the rotor windings while in the squirel cage motors the
rotors winding r in-built short ckted by d heavy end
rings..........secondly they r used for speed control of
the motor by connecting external resistors wid the help of
slip ring n associated brushes.......
