It is an indication of what fraction of the sending end VA
is actually converted in to energy Like heat, torque,
etc......... either useful or otherwise... It is
numerically equal to the ratio of Active Power-P to
Apparent Power-S.
Incidentally, this quantity in Sine waves is equal to R/Z..
or Coa(angle between v and I)....
But in circuits with non-sinusoidal waveforms of v & i, it
is to be found by P/S...
