What is Gap Analysis

Answer Posted / selva ganapathi

In terms of testing, gap analysis is to identify whether
all the base lined requirements defined by the business
analyst and implicit requirements of the defined
requirements are covered in the design. If any thing found
missed in the design document, defect/s or concern can be
raised against the design team.
This could be called as Pre-QA defects.
Gap analysis is a way to identify the static defects.

Benefits:

Static defects require less cost or even no cost to fix
rather than the dynamic defects.
Minimizes the design change for the defects raised during
the test execution
Possibility of missing a requirment would be minimal
