why transformer required and why not voltage directly supply
from power generation to the applications
Answer Posted / nithi
Generally, power is generated in the voltage level of 11kv
(upto 15kv).
For the same power transaction from power station
to the load center, if we increase the system voltage,
correspondingly the magnitude of the current will be
reduced. The reduction in the current level has the
following advantages.
1.Reduction in the transmission line voltage drop.
2.Reduction in the size of the conductor.
3.Power loss is reduced.
4.Efficiency and the voltage profile of the system are
improved.
