What is mean by PID controller? And what is its Long form?
Answer Posted / santanu sen
PID controller is also known as proportional integral derivative controller. The two main types of operation integral and derivative controller are used. The integral controller is used to minimize the steady state error of the response characteristics, it is the same as adding a pole to the transfer function of the control system. The purpose of the derivative controller is to fasten up the transient response, as the peak value is obtained earlier than the normal response, just as adding a zero to the transfer function of the control system. The proportional controller can be realized for two purposes:-
1. The derivative controller cannot be realized alone so therefore there must be a proportional controller for the same.
2. The proportional controller is also used to adjust the gain of the control system within the limits of the s- plane, otherwise may lead to instability.
