How Much Capacity of Diesel Genset is suitable for
20 no.s of 1.5ton AC's & Why?(Load Calculation)
Answer Posted / vivek sri
Lokesh Thota & Girijapati Mishra are partly correct
1.5 Tons=5.25KW (1Ton=3.5kW)
Assuming COP of 2.5 Input KW = 5.25/2.5=2.1kW
If the AC is rated for 240 volts then
I=(2.1*1000)/(240*0.8)=10.94 Amps where 0.8 is the power factor.
For 20 Ac's I=10.94*20=218.75
In case you are using single phase generator with rated
voltage of 240 volts then the required genset capacity is
=240*218.75/1000=52.5kVA.
In case you are using a 3 phase generator with voltage
rating of 415 volts (L-L, Line to neutral voltage will be
240 Volts) then rating would
be=1.732*415*218.75=157kVA(1.732 is SQRT 3)
