In synchronous generators field is rotor and armature is
stator. Can we take the output at the rotor in case of
synchronous generator by the dc excitation on the stator?
Answer Posted / sdvyas
Yes,electricity can be generater in either case.
However, due to high voltage 6.6 KV/11 KV it is much more
safe to kept HV on stator. Further, if we take HV on the
rotor, rotor will have more mass as the total curent will
be carried out by HV windings only. It will also give more
thrust on the bearings.
Therefore, it is safe and reliable to have field windings
on the rotor part of the generator. Brushless exciter is
the best choice for any syncrogenerator.

This is reqd for a 1MW Solar power plant..We have 2DC outputs from the solar panels Connected to 2INVERTOR panels.. Output from invertor is 3ph,280v,500kva,50hz.These are connected to individual ACB.This has to be stepped up to 11KV ,1250KVA SYSTEM.Now can I use (1) one more ACBTO GIVE A COMBINED OUTPUT OF 1000KVA,280V & STEP UP THE OUTPUT BY USING a single two winding 3 ph transformer 11kv/1250kva. or (2)use the two outputs and connect to one three winding transformer of above rating..Pls suggestwith details.

Explain the advantages and disadvantages of thermal power plant?
In a power conditoining unit (inverter) of a solar plant when we measure the d.c. current fed by different strings of solar plates to inverter, the current in the negative wire is less almost by 1 ampere to the current in its positive wire say current in positive wire 5 A , then current in negative wire of the same string is 4 A. Since the current entering should be equal to current leaving then why the current is noticably less in negative wire.
